DT Lead AI Engineering


Make your mark for patients

We are looking for a Digital Technology Lead Artificial Intelligence Engineering who is curious, collaborative, and passionate about innovation to join us in our Advanced Analytics team, based in our HQ in Brussels, Belgium.

About the role

You will lead the design and deployment of Artificial Intelligence solutions that enable UCB to leverage analytics and AI to generate insights, make better decisions, and create new value for patients. This global role combines advanced engineering, data science, and governance to deliver scalable, compliant systems that transform pharmaceutical operations and regulatory processes.

Who you'll work with

You will be working in a team that partners with data engineers, product managers, regulatory experts, and business leaders across UCB. Together, you will accelerate AI adoption, explore new opportunities, and implement AI features into working software. Collaboration with compliance and domain experts will be key to ensuring solutions meet industry standards.

What you'll do

  • Explore and model structured and unstructured datasets to generate actionable insights
  • Design and deploy AI workflows into smart applications within agile product teams
  • Build GenAI solutions such as Retrieval-Augmented Generation assistants and agentic systems
  • Develop and optimize data science workflows for forecasting, prediction, and natural language processing
  • Mentor other data scientists and contribute to recruitment and partnerships
  • Champion innovative ideas through prototypes and demonstrate their business value

Interested? For this role we're looking for the following education, experience, and skills

  • Bachelor's degree in computer science, data science, bioinformatics, or related field
  • At least 4 years of experience in data science or AI engineering roles
  • Advanced programming experience with Python
  • Hands-on experience with data science techniques and deep learning frameworks
  • Knowledge of data engineering pipelines and cloud-based deployment practices
  • Experience building GenAI solutions and advanced analytics workflows
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills with fluency in English
  • Creative, curious, and comfortable working in dynamic, collaborative environments
